BARELY few days to the presidential election in Nigeria, over 135 members of the All Progressives Congress,APC, have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oviri-Ogor, Ughelli North local government area of Delta state.
The decampees were led by the youth leader of Oviri-Ogor, Mr. Lucky Onogure while the non-indigenes living in Ogor was lead Mr Monday Osulo, chairman of Ndigbo respectively.
They were received by the acting chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Kelly Oghenekevwe, Olorogun Kpuwhara Anthony, Hon Emmanuel Osiokpo and Ogor ward chairman, Pastor Makpor Uyoh.
Speaking at the event, Hon Kelly said, “We are here to celebrate PDP as one family and receive over a hundred decampees, from the APC and non-Indigenes in Oviri-Ogor to the PDP family because God do not make mistake.
“The APC in Oviri-Ogor, will go down because it has nothing to offer and campaign with, except hunger that is in the land. What we are enjoying in the community today was brought by the PDP.
“We are giving wrappers to the women from the entire Ogor as part of our love for them to know we have them at heart and we are very accessible at all times. When you vote for PDP, the dividends of democracy is sure.”
Receiving the decampees, at the country home of Olorogun Kpuwhara Anthony, Pastor Makpo said, “For those of you who are here, the PDP remain the last hope of every person in Delta state, never be deceived that there is going to be a party that will take over the government of Delta state.
On his part, leader of PDP in Ogor, Olorogun Kpuwhara Anthony who was flanked by other party faithful said, “Oviri-Ogor has been a PDP community for the past 23 years and it will remain with the party.
“PDP is the only party that can rescue Nigerians from the dungeon of APC that has failed woefully
and those of you that have come back will be treated equally.”
On why they left APC for PDP, Mr Monday Osulo chairman of Ndigbo in Ogor said, “The APC government came with hardship and the little we are gathering, their supporting herdsmen are busy destroying our farmlands.
“The Urhobo land has blessed the Ndigbo people in Delta state that is governed by the PDP, and we cannot abandon our brother, governor Ifeanyi Okowa vice presidential ambition and other candidates in our ward and local government.
“We have been seeing the infrastructural development of the PDP in our community, and we have to join the party that has given our community recognition and empowerment.”
